GAMSAT S3 Crash Course

Learn how and when to use specific skills with GAMSAT-style questions!

These are recordings of the GAMSAT S3 Crash Courses I held in Melbourne at the end of 2019 / beginning of 2020!

There were a total of 4 days which covered the following topics:

GAMSAT Science Fundamentals (Day 1) - approx. 5hr

You would be surprised how little you need to know for many GAMSAT-style questions. However, there are some things you should know!

This day covered some of the KEY assumed knowledge required for the GAMSAT, with the focus mainly on Physics and General Chemistry. We touched only briefly on Organic Chemistry and Biology due to time-constraints.

GAMSAT Numerical Reasoning (Day 2) - approx. 5hr

Numbers can be scary, but it shouldn't be!

The aim of this day was to demonstrate and teach the math necessary for the GAMSAT. Students were shown the importance of being able to manipulate equations, indices, logarithms, fractions, ratios, and understanding proportionality and exponential behavior.

GAMSAT Graphs and Tables (Day 3) - approx. 5hr

So much data, so little time!

The aim of this day was to familiarise students with the various types of graphs, as well as the common things that we may be asked to interpret from them. Examples of GAMSAT-style questions with graphs and tables were used to demonstrate how students can extract the relevant information to be able to answer confidently, and also how not to fall for common traps.

GAMSAT Pattern Recognition & Verbal Reasoning (Day 4) - approx. 5hr

Dreading organic chemistry or length passages? It's actually not that bad!
The purpose of the day was to demonstrate how pattern recognition and verbal reasoning can be use to tackle GAMSAT-style questions. Students learnt how to first identify relevant patterns and then apply them in order to answer the questions confidently. They gained an appreciation of how important certain words and phrases can impact our interpretation of questions, and in some case how we can use it to our advantage.
